Position type: PhD student (FPI contract).
Advisor: Prof. Daniel Jaque and Dr. Miriam Granado.
Location: Nanomaterials for Bioimaging Group (nanoBIG), Department of Materials Physics, Faculty of Science, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Eligibility criteria: Master studies finished. Previous experience in any of these areas will be highly valued: nanotechnology, nanoparticle synthesis, luminescence, in vitro and in vivo experimentation.
Research objective: The project aims to develop a new generation of luminescent infrared nanosensors and their use in the detection, in vivo and in vitro, of different inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and Crohn’s disease. The process of detecting and diagnosing inflammatory processes would involve the use of “click” chemistry and luminescent nanothermometry. It is a highly interdisciplinary project in which the student will learn to carry out research tasks in the field of nanomaterial synthesis, biofunctionalization, optical characterization, the development of in vitro and in vivo experiments.
Funding project: “INflammation detection and diagnosis by bioorthogonal CLIck-chemistry and infrared NAnothermometers (INCLINA)” funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. Ref. PID2023-146775OB-I00.
Duration: 4 years.
Starting date: to be decided.
Application deadline: from 14th October to 4th November 2024.
How to apply: Applications must be submitted through the UAM Electronic Office, following the instructions described in the Call for Applications.
